PLAYER

Name: Buttercup
Age: over 21
Contact: [plurk.com profile] butteredcups
Other Characters: Samwise Gamgee
Interests: Obviously lots of CR both with canon/AUed characters and rifters! Cassandra will have her hands full trying to manage the influx of people pouring into Skyhold from the rifts and elsewhere and helping to keep the Inquisition on track (as well as keeping a sharp eye on a certain dwarf). Action scenes and missions are great, as well as day to day Skyhold stuff. As a canon character and founding member of the Inquisition, Cassandra will be in high demand and I'm interested in building up a lot of CR (both positive and negative) with a variety of characters. I'd like her to have a solid in-game presence and am more than willing to work with the mods to integrate her into plots as necessary.

Cassandra at the Dragon Age Wiki

Personality

Cassandra is staunchly devoted to Andraste and the Inquisition; she has a clear, perhaps idealistic vision of what the Chantry should be and a deep, abiding interest in seeing it freed from corruption. While she does not desire leadership or power, Cassandra has a strong sense of faith, dedication, and duty. If called upon, she will not hesitate to assume a leadership role. For good or ill, Cassandra tends to act first and ask questions later, and has little tolerance for delay.

She harbors a significant amount of self-doubt and, while she doesn't often express such things aloud, she will admit as much to those she considers trustworthy. However, while she often questions whether or not her choices are right, she doesn't allow her insecurities to prevent her from taking action, nor does she allow them to stand between her and her goals. Inaction is unacceptable, and,= even if she is eventually proven wrong in her assumptions or decisions, she can only act on what she knows and what she believes, and she stubbornly refuses to let fear dictate her choices.

Despite her harsh, abrasive exterior, Cassandra is a romantic at heart. She is passionate in all things, and refuses to apologize for her desires, however incongruously feminine they may seem. She values faith, kindness, and compassion, and is righteous and loyal to a fault.

Though she was born into nobility, the gruesome loss of her parents, then the loss of her brother forced Cassandra to be self-sufficient. Her uncle's coddling and disinterest fueled her drive as much as her thirst for action and accomplishment. Unsurprisingly, her greatest fear is helplessness, and Cassandra has gone to great lengths to make certain she will never be helpless.

In a world of constant uncertainty, she has learned to rely on herself and her faith entirely. She is an impressive warrior and trains daily, she fights with all her heart because there is no other choice, and she devotes herself wholeheartedly to the tasks at hand. Even when she is uncertain or wishes for guidance, she knows that hard choices rarely solve themselves and waiting for someone else to make the first move is not always an option. If pressed, she will act immediately and decisively, to whatever end she feels is the most just, a fact that is apparent in her bearing, her attitude, and her speech.

Strengths & Weaknesses

As a Seeker of Truth, Cassandra has all of the advantages of a Templar without that pesky lyrium addiction. Her training makes her immune to possession by demons and resistant to red lyrium infection. She is a brave and accomplished warrior and an asset on the battlefield.

Cassandra is much more comfortable with a sword than a pen. Words have never come easily to her, and given the choice, she is much happier stabbing her problems in the face than solving them with diplomacy or wordcrafting. (That's not to say she won't do what needs doing, but if it involves punching things, so much the better.)

Inventory

- Sword
- Shield
- Locket with a photo of her brother inside
- One copy of "The Tale of the Champion," by Varric Tethras (stabbed through with a dagger)
- All published chapters of "Swords and Shields," by Varric Tethras (all with notable wear and tear)

Motivation

Founder of the Inquisition. With the Inquisitor dead and rifts becoming more common, Cassandra's presence is more vital than ever.

SAMPLES

Please provide 2 samples. It doesn't matter if they're written or linked and we don't care if you prefer brackets or normal punctuation, but at least one must take place in the game world, and at least one must be a log rather than network tags (or their setting-appropriate equivalent). They can be of any length, as long as they provide a sense of your character's voice and internal narrative. If we feel they aren't sufficient, we'll ask you for more.
